A Special Workshop and Empowerment With
Lama Pema Tendzin

CREATION OF THE COMPASSION PEACE MANDALA
A Benefit Workshop with Bhutanese Thangka Artist Lama Pema Tendzin

This is a beautiful and rare opportunity to learn the ancient art of traditional sacred thangka painting from a master artist and lineage holder. Lama Pema Tendzin has paintings in permanent and private collections throughout the United States including the San Francisco Asian art museum. Additionally he has had the honor of creating beautiful ceremonial thankas for the Dalai Lama.

Lama Pema Tendzin began studying the sacred art of thangka under the tutelage of his teacher Buli Tulku Rinpoche since he was six years old. More than paintings, thangkas are potent tools for meditation, contemplation and transformation.

For this special workshop, Lama Pema Tendzin will be leading us in the creation of the Compassion Peace Mandala. The day opens with meditation, mantra and prayers.

We will then draw and paint the mandalas together under this master artist's tutelage. When the painting is completed Lama Pema and Tsewong Sitar Rimpoche will lead us in a mantra, prayer and blessing to activate the mandala. This workshop gives participants active creative time with these very special beings in the creation of a potent piece of art that will Benefit all Beings.

A SPECIAL BENEFIT:

All proceeds from this event will go towards a special painting of Guru Rimpoche Padmasambhva. This painting measuring 30 feet high by 25 feet high will be placed on the mountainside next to the Sangye Tang monastery in Bhutan.

Guru Rimpoche Padmasambhava is recognized as the principle teacher to bring Buddhism to Tibet in the 8th Century. The painting, which will be completed in February of 2008, was revealed in a vision to Lama Pema's brother Tsewong Sitar Rinpoche. Tsewong Sitar Rimpoche is the head of Sangye Tang monastery in Eastern Bhutan. Founded in the late 1500's, this monastery is in view of one of Padmasambhava's sacred pilgrimage sites. The painting will promote blessings, peace and rejuvenation.
Centered images are present in art, craft and religious representations in all cultures from time immemorial. As universal symbols of wholeness, they remind us of atomic and cellular structure, as well as macrocosmic organization of the stars and the galaxies.
Psychoanalyst C.G. Jung used mandalas in therapy and since then, the practice has spread widely as a tool for self-analysis, self-knowledge and awakening of creativity.

This workshop introduces a way to use mandalas which has been presented for more than fifteen years in schools, hospitals, and retirement homes, and is used to improve concentration, relaxation and inner peace. A growing number of teachers use it as a "neuro-educational" tool to enhance their pupils’ ability to concentrate for a better capacity to absorb knowledge. We will experience the difference between simple coloring and creating our own mandala and we will try to understand, in the light of the latest discoveries of neuro-sciences on brain processes, what happens inside us when we use this tool.

Open to all; no particular artistic skills needed.
Another function that I, along with a group of ten others, recently explored is mandala as vehicle for expressing certain archetypal forces summoned during group ritual dynamics. As director of ParaTheatrical ReSearch, I facilitated and participated in a kind of ritual excavation of the internal landscape of transformative processes over a three month period in Berkeley California that culminated in a 4-day outdoor wilderness trip.

Every week we all sketched mandalas immediately after emerging from our ritual process. The intent was not to "create" art or a pretty mandala but rather to, within 10-15 minutes, give direct expression to the energetic states we were in at the moment within the parameters of a marked 1) a center and 2) periphery.

Some of these ritual mandala sketches are posted, along with contributor notes, at:
http://www.paratheatrical.com/alchemymandalas.html

The lab report for this process is posted at:
http://www.paratheatrical.com/alchemy.html

I'd be happy to field any questions or comments anyone might have about this process we underwent.

I recommend my book ORMUS FROM AUTHORHOUSE
www.authorhouse.com/BookStor...alog.aspx
ORMUS, ORME....WHITE GOLD ...The manna, the white powder of gold, is the food, the light, one takes into their body. It is the FOOD OF THE GODS. A modern day Rabbi might tell you that no one has known how to make the manna, the white powder of Gold, since the destruction of the Temple of Solomon. The technique is, supposedly, a lost art or lost knowledge. But others argue that when the high priests left the Temple (when it was destroyed), the took the secret out into the desert and organized a commune called Qumrun. There, they became the Essenes. Eventually, the white powder was used to nourish a woman named Mary, and eventually, she gave birth to a man named Jesus.
These gifts include: perfect telepathy, the ability to know good and evil when it’s present, and to project thoughts into another person’s mind. There is also the ability to levitate, or to walk on water. By excluding all external magnetic fields (including the Earth’s gravity), the white powder of gold takes one beyond the four dimensional space time continuum, and the individual becomes a fifth dimensional being. They can literally think where they would like to be, and go there. They can heal by the laying on of hands, and can cleanse and resurrect the dead within two or three days after they died. They have so much energy that they can literally embrace people and bring light and energy back into them. We the International Order Of Knight Templars have the keys to Immortality. The International Order of Knight Templars has many hidden esoteric keys about ormus , immortality and 2012.
please take a look at these forums

Mandala

Mandala is Sanskrit for circle, polygon, community, connection.
The Mandala is a symbol of man or woman in the world, a support for the meditating person.
The mandala is often illustrated as a palace with four gates, facing the four corners of the Earth.
The Mandala shown here is connected with the Buddha Vajrasattva, who symbolises the original crystalline purity.
In the centre is a lotus blossom with eight petals, resting on a bed of jewels.
In the next place are the walls of the palace with gates towards the four corners of the earth.
The gates are guarded by four angry doorkeepers.
Before the meditating person arrives at the gates, she must, however, pass the four outer circles: the purifying fire of wisdom, the vajra circle, the circle with the eight tombs, the lotus circle.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Circles

Here are the four circles, symbolising the enlightenment, which the meditating person must gain, before she can enter the illuminated palace:
fire of wisdom: the outermost circle consists of the purifying fire
vajra circle: the diamond circle expresses strength and fearlessness
tombs: there are eight tombs, which symbolises the eight states of consciousness*, which the person must go beyond
lotus circle: expresses the open state of devotion, that is necessary to enter the palace

*consciousness of seeing, consciousness of hearing, consciousness of tasting, consciousness of smelling, consciousness of the body, consciousness of thinking, consciousness of the I, basic consciousness

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Centre
The symbol of Buddha lives in the centre, surrounded by eight Buddhas for meditation - symbolic deities: four male and four female. These figures, facing the corners of the earth form together a lotus flower.
Bell: the female part of the Tantric polarity: the symbol of emptiness - the boundless openness, giving room for wisdom
Vajra: the male part of the Tantric polarity: the symbol of effective means and Buddha's active compassion with the meditating person. Originally it was the thunderbolt of the god Indra, later it came to represent the diamond
Dharma Wheel: the eight hubs are a symbol of the Eightfold Path*, leading to perfection
Lotus: symbol of the teaching of Buddha. The plant standing with the roots in the mud, yet raising its blossom towards the light. You can be like it

Buddhist Schools
The original Buddhism very early divided into to schools:
Theravada and Mahayana
Theravada means "the tradition of the elderly", but is also ironically called Hinayana "the little vessel" by the followers of Mahayana. According to the Theravada Buddhism, the individual can itself work its way forward to freedom from the suffering in the world. The followers of the Theravada Buddhism live in Burma, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Theravada is therefore also called the Southern Buddhism.
Mahayana means "the big vessel". According to the Mahayana Buddhism a universal love leads to freedom from the sufferings of the world. The Buddhist begins to arouse the wish in herself to release all beings from suffering. The supporters of the Mahayana Buddhism live in Tibet, China, Korea and Japan. Mahayana is therefore also called the Northern Buddhism.

Tibetan Buddhism
Tibetan Buddhism or Vajrayana Buddhism is a branch of the Mahayana Buddhism. According to the legend, the founder Padmasambhava was born in a lake in a lotus blossom. The Padmasambhava Lake is considered to have the clearest blue colour of all the lakes in the world and to hold strong healing power. One of the means of the Tibetan Buddhists to gain freedom is meditation on sublime thoughts and pictures. Such a picture is the mandala.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to create a nature oriented 3D mandala. I've got as far as figuring out I want to use a lightweight core (preferably not styrofoam, but it'll do in a pinch), feathers & twigs.

I'd like this to last, so does anyone have suggestions on:
1/a suitable adhesive
2/ a way to keep the natural materials from drying out and dropping?

Thanks!
